Privacy Policy
Version 1.2.0 · Effective July 21, 2026
DRAFT
This Privacy Policy explains what MentorReach LLC, doing business as MentorReach ("MentorReach", "we", "us"), collects when you use mentorreach.com (the "Platform"), why we collect it, and what control you have over it.
By using the Platform you agree to this Policy. It is part of our Terms of Service.
1. Who this applies to
Everyone who uses the Platform: students, parents booking for a student, Mentors, and visitors who browse without an account.
You must be at least 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18. See Section 9.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
Everyone with an account: name, email address, and account type (student or mentor). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We never receive your Google password.
Students and parents: answers to our onboarding survey, which may include education level, year in school, school name, major or intended major, career interests, target companies or roles, prior work experience, what you want help with, and how you heard about us. If you are booking for a student under 18, we collect that you have indicated a minor will attend.
Mentors: professional field, current title and employer, biography, session lengths and prices, availability, profile photograph, and optionally a LinkedIn URL. Mentor applications additionally include years of experience, availability expectations, rate expectations, and free-text answers about your background and motivation.
Everyone, as you use the Platform: session bookings, cancellations, session notes written by a Mentor, reports you submit about another user, and messages you send us.
Information we collect automatically
Log and device data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. Cookies and similar technologies used for authentication and to keep you signed in. See Section 8.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect or store your full payment card number, bank account details, or government identification. Those go directly to our payment processor. We do not record video sessions.
3. How we use it
- To create and operate your account, and to authenticate you
- To show Mentor profiles to students, and to show relevant students to Mentors
- To process bookings, payments, refunds, and Mentor payouts
- To create and deliver video meeting links
- To send transactional email: booking confirmations, reminders, cancellations, and account notices
- To provide support and respond to reports of misconduct
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms
- To understand how the Platform is used and improve it
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train machine learning models.
4. What is public
A Mentor's profile is public and visible to anyone on the internet, including search engines. This includes name, photograph, field, current title and employer (unless you have chosen to be described generally), biography, specialties, session lengths, and prices.
Student information is never public. A Mentor sees your name and the details relevant to a session you have booked with them. Other students never see you.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information with service providers who operate parts of the Platform on our behalf. Each processes it only to perform its function:
| Provider | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Authentication and account management | Name, email, login activity |
| Neon | Database hosting | All Platform data |
| Vercel | Website hosting, file storage | Site traffic, uploaded photographs |
| Stripe | Payments and Mentor payouts | Name, email, payment and payout details |
| Zoom | Video sessions | Name, email, meeting scheduling data |
| Resend | Transactional email | Name, email, message contents |
| Optional sign-in | Authentication data |
We also share information:
- Between users, as the service requires. A Mentor you book sees your name and session details. You see the Mentor's public profile.
- When legally required, such as in response to a subpoena, court order, or lawful government request.
- To protect people. If we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm, investigate fraud, or enforce our Terms.
- In a business transfer. If MentorReach is acquired or merges, information may transfer as part of that transaction. You will be notified.
6. How long we keep it
We keep account information for as long as your account is active.
After you delete your account, we remove your profile and personal information within 30 days, with two exceptions. We retain transaction and payout records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically seven years. We retain records relating to reports of misconduct, safety issues, or account removals for as long as needed to protect other users and enforce our Terms.
Mentor session notes about a student are deleted when either account is deleted.
7. Your rights and choices
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Access and correct most of your information directly in your account settings
- Delete your account by contacting support@mentorreach.com
- Opt out of non-essential email. Transactional messages about your bookings cannot be turned off while you have an active account
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (operating your account and sessions), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improving the Platform), consent (optional communications), and legal obligation.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion, to request correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
To exercise any right, email support@mentorreach.com. We will respond within the time your law requires. We may need to verify your identity first.
8. Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the Platform to work, primarily to keep you signed in and to secure your session. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
Blocking essential cookies in your browser will prevent you from signing in.
[If analytics are added later, disclose the provider and what it collects here.]
9. Minors
Accounts are for adults only. A parent or guardian may book a session for a student under 18, in which case the parent is the account holder and the information about the student is provided by the parent.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a person under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact support@mentorreach.com and we will close it and delete the information.
10. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our service providers are primarily located there. If you use the Platform from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent transfer mechanism.
11. Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. Payment details never touch our servers.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notified by email. Continuing to use the Platform after a change means you accept it.
